Kochendörfer Bust of a Young Maiden
Item Description
German Art Nouveau ceramic bust of a young maiden with laurel leaves in her hair.
Looking straight ahead, her wide open eyes and slightly open mouth give her a look of young innocence.
Titled ‘Eros’ on the plinth, and polychrome painted in subtle shades that have aged rather well.
The bust is signed by the artist (Fritz) Köchendorfer to one side and dated 1896, this being the year he joined the company Schumacher & Co. whose name appears on a circular disc inserted in the underside.
In good condition, commensurate with its age and with a height of 42 cms.
