Egyptian Temptress
Item Description
Terracotta “Cleopatre” signed by Jacobs. The classical Egyptian temptress as interpreted by this highly regarded French sculptor. Attractively finished in a single rich reddish-brown colour, giving it a look almost of bronze.
Wearing an ornate costume and a head-dress decorated with precious stones, she carries the aloof expression that, according to legend, Mark Antony found irresistable.
There is a small piece missing from the frill of her costume but this is not very noticeable unless examined closely. Hardly surprising considering this bust is around 110 years old.
The height is approximately 50 cm.
