Enamelled Winged Scarab Brooch*
Item Description
Jugendstil Egyptian revival brooch in silver gilt dating from circa 1920, depicting a stylised winged scarab.
Probably from one of the Pforzheim based jewellers but we are unable to identify which from the marks shown on the pin which are unfamiliar to us.
The faience green body of the scarab is etched on both sides, with the wings enamelled in a matching shade, the trailing feathers with plique-à-jour enamelling giving that wonderful see-through stained glass window effect.
Marked on the back for 800 silver and with a width of 7 cms.
