Arts & Crafts Pendant Necklace by Ruth Isaac*
Complex and very finely detailed Arts & Crafts necklace made in a combination of gold and silver, depicting in its centre the figure of a fairy playing the pipes.
The seated gold fairy is set on an oval mother-of-pearl plaque surrounded by a silver trellis decorated with leaves, some of which are enamelled, and six little silver flowers set with green chalcedony cabochon centres.
An oval chalcedony stone forms the drop and the pendant is suspended on two short lengths of chain below a central blister pearl.
The ornate chain comprises alternate gold quatrefoil and silver links with enamelled rods wrapped in silver wire.
Approximately 7 cm in length from the blister pearl suspender to the bottom of the drop. Opened out, the chain is 39 cm long and has a toggle type fastener.
Unfortunately little is known about Ruth Isaac who was active during the early part of the 20th century.
