French Colonial Exposition sterling silver brooch with a graphic depiction of a Benin (formerly Dahomey) face mask.
A striking stylised profile portrait of a bejewelled young woman wearing an ornate headdress and with long braids hanging down.
Typical of the native jewellery shown at the 1931 Exposition which was a showcase for the French and their colonies, of which Dahomey was just one.
Measuring approximately 7.5 cm in height and impressed with old French hallmarks.
