The Dolly Sisters
The two Dolly Sisters as portrayed by Dakon for Goldscheider. Born in Hungary, they were popular dancers and entertainers, appearing in the Ziegfeld Follies on Broadway before later moving to France and wowing Parisian audiences. Here they are dressed in elegant flowing gowns and expressively captured in mid-dance.
This eye-catching piece was made around 1937 and, instead of the more usual painted and glazed ceramic, is in a terracotta coloured clay which gives the figure an almost silhouette like appearance.
In excellent condition, numbered beneath 7868/154/7 and with a height of approximately 34 cm.
