Silver Plated Claret Jug
Item Description
Stylish silver-plated Secessionist claret jug dating from the very early 1900’s made by WMF. With a capacity of two pints, or around one and a half normal size bottles.
The design is a straightforward inverted trumpet shape with applied handle and spout, together with a domed lever operated hinged lid. Typical Secessionist style motifs circle the jug towards the base with further geometric detail on the lid, handle and spout.
This item has obviously been well looked after and is still in lovely condition with its original silver plating. Looks most impressive on the table.
Lit: Art Nouveau Domestic Metalwork from WMF, p 138.
