Silver and Enamel Brooch by Ernestine Mills
Delightful little circular silver brooch quite beautifully enamelled by the Arts & Crafts follower Mrs. Ernestine Mills (1871-1959) who studied her craft under the influential Alexander Fisher.
Further mounted in a backed silver frame with a short bar at each side, the subtly coloured picture is of a single growing plant, looking to be a pansy, with several vivid blue open flowers. Little gold flecks add accent and gold is also used for the EM initials at bottom right.
Just a fraction over 4 cm in width overall, with the enamel plaque 2.75 cm in diameter.
