Plique-à-Jour Winged Scarab Brooch*
Large size German silver-gilt winged scarab brooch in the Egyptian revival style, its sweeping wings quite beautifully plique-à-jour enamelled in shades of green and golden yellow. Further detail is picked out in little cells of sky blue enamel.
The body of the scarab is fashioned from from Swiss lapis with two little matching coloured glass beads above and below.
Marked for 800 silver on the back and in excellent condition bearing in mind this brooch dates from circa 1910.
The width is the merest fraction over11 cm.
