Mary Wigman by Goldscheider
Item Description
This is a striking ceramic figure of the dancer Mary Wigman (born Karoline Sophie Marie Wiegmann (1886 -1973) who is regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of modern dance.
Designed by Josef Lorenzl and made by the firm Goldscheider, she is captured in mid dance, on one leg with the other bent at the knee. Wearing a short pink costume, she is looking upwards and the expressive pose together with the overall size of the piece combine to give this lovely figure great impact on display.
Numbered 8711/1/4 and with a height of 37.5 cm.
