Limoges Enamelled Brooch by Poujol
Circular Limoges enamelled brooch dating from the late Art Nouveau era, circa 1920.
The quite beautiful convex enamel on copper plaque depicts a pair of butterflies with their wings folded, having alighted on a leafy stem.
Vivid colours with the multicoloured foil backed wings, the green of the leaves and the red berries all standing out strongly against a mottled blue sky background.
The plaque is set in a silver mount which also has a fixed loop on the back so that a chain can be attached for wearing as a pendant if desired.
A little under 6 cm in diameter.
