Le Faguays ‘Gloire’*
French Art Deco figure ‘Gloire’ of a victorious male athlete by the prolific artist Pierre Le Faguays.
The young man is depicted seated on a high wall, wearing a laurel wreath and holding a palm frond high above his head in salute.
Made of a superior quality art metal at the Le Verrier foundry in the late 1920’s and finished with a dark green patination, this is the single subject version of the well known three-man sculpture ‘Trophée’.
In good condition with just a couple of very minor marks to the patina.
Signed Le Faguays in the marble base and with a total height of 63 cm.
