‘Jeune Fille au Bonnet’ by Calendi*
Item Description
Very fine gilded bronze and carrara marble bust of a young girl by A. Calendi, about whom we have little information other than that he was artistically active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
Elegantly modelled with the girl’s face showing just the merest hint of a smile and her head very slightly inclined to one side. The gold coloured gown and ornate bonnet she is wearing both contrast beautifully with the light colour of the carrara marble.
Dating from circa 1890 and with a total height of approximately 47 cm.
Signed verso and numbered 1162.
