French Silvered Bronze Medallist Brooch*
Circular silvered bronze medallist brooch designed by the master French medallist and sculptor Jean Vernon (1897-1975).
The image, which is in strong relief, depicts a pair of amorous pigeons in the foreground and is inscribed in French ‘Deux pigeons saimaient damour tendre….’ which roughly translates as ‘Two pigens loving each other tenderly’.
The artist’s name Jean Vernon is shown immediately above.
