German Jugendstil Silver and Plique-à-Jour Brooch*
Item Description
Jugenstil silver brooch with a stylised winged insect shape and an unusual shade of orange plique-à-jour detail to the wings.
Each of the enamelled cells is further accented with a little gold dot in its centre.
A faceted bright pink paste stone forms the front part of the body and, at the top two marcasites sit either side of a little seed pearl set in the centre of a star
Completing the design is a small wing pearl at the drop.
Almost certainly made in Pforzheim, marked déposé and for 935 silver and dating from the early 1900’s. The width is 3.25 cm.
