French Art Nouveau Pendant*
Item Description
Finely detailed French Art Nouveau silver and silver-gilt pendant decorated with a shaped border of blue plique-à-jour enamelling.
Depicting a silver-gilt heron standing on one leg while looking downwards, presumably poised to capture its next meal. Thistle like plants in silver grow on each side,closely following the contours of the shaped inner frame.
Dating from circa 1905 and on an unusual chain that is quite possibly the original.
The pendant has a diameter of just a fraction over 2.5 cm and the necklace chain is 37 cm long.
