Fahrner Toucan Brooch*
Item Description
Silver and marcasite brooch by Theodor Fahrner depicting a toucan perching amongst long, curving leaves, with what appears to be a small fruit just beneath its feet.
The leaves and part of the bird’s folded wing are decorated with corded wire known as filigree while the front part of its body, together with two strips along the wing are set with marcasites, as is the fruit.
This brooch would originally have been gilded but the gilt has long worn away leaving it basically silver in colour.
Marked on the back 925 and with a somewhat rubbed TF mark.
Dating from the 1930’s and just a fraction under 4 cm wide.
