Old and original German or Austrian reverse glass painting of a Capercaillie perched on a small branch in the late evening sunlight.
The painting technique used was a popular folk art in Germany, Austria and Bohemia throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, being known as 'Hinterglasmalerie'.
This is an unusual and strikingly colourful image set in a very fine old frame and in excellent condition.
Late 19th century with an overall size of 35cm. high X 45 wide.
