Brooch attr. to Edith Linnell*
Item Description
Arts & Crafts silver brooch that, although unmarked, is surely by Edith Margaret Linnell (1877-1961).
The elongated outline is edged all around with green enamel, framing an openwork central area decorated with silver leaves and flowers and set with assorted stones, probably tourmalines, together with two larger abalone cabochons.
The silverwork and the way the stones are set all points to Edith Linnell’s work and we estimate this brooch dates from circa 1905-10 when she had premises in Sloane Street, London.
With a safety catch which secures the pin, as shown in our last but one photo.
A good size at a little over 8 cm in width.
