Brooch attr. to Bernard Instone*
Silver bar brooch set with a central faceted amethyst encircled by sprays of leaves, buds and winding stems.
A thoughtful design showing fine detail with the ribbed bar featuring a wirework feature and champhered ends.
The clasp has a novel safety catch that swings up into position, securely keeping the pin in place.
Marked sterling on the back but no maker’s mark apparent. However we think that this brooch is from the workshops of Bernard Instone.
The width is 5.75 cm.
