Art Nouveau Silver Kingfisher Brooch*
Item Description
English Art Nouveau silver brooch made by the Hatton Garden silversmith Henry Charles Freeman, hallmarked Birmingham 1900.
A large size brooch with a shaped outline and an openwork design of a Kingfisher flying down towards the water, just above above lily pads and flowers floating on the surface.
Lovely detail to the feathers of the bird as well as the flowers and leaves.
The silver is partially patinated in the deeper parts and polished on the raised areas, accentuating further the strong three-dimensional look.
Impressed with the HCF maker’s mark, 7.5 cm wide and just a fraction over 5.5 cm high.
