Art Nouveau Pendant by Marples & Beasley*
English Art Nouveau silver and enamel pendant by the Birmingham jewellery makers and silversmiths Marples & Beasley, hallmarked for the year 1908.
Semi openwork and circular in outline, with the head and shoulders portrait of a young woman beneath a pair of fern-like leaves which curve downward from the top centre.
The almost diamond shaped background is enamelled in shades of blue, and a little partially enamelled drop is suspended below.
Marked with the M&B maker’s mark and with the silver hallmark on the right hand side, partially hidden beneath the enamel.
A fraction below 6 cm in length including the bale and drop. The necklace chain measures 47 cm.
