A l’Affût by Somme*
Large and impressive patinated and cold painted bronze Art Deco sculpture titled “A l’Affût” (On the Lookout) by the noted French artist Théodore François Somme (1871-1952).
A gold medal winning strong Art Deco piece, dating from 1925, depicting a semi-naked young Amazon, kneeling at the alert with bow in hand.
Set on a wonderful oval stepped marble base with an applied brass plaque inscribed A l’Affut par TH Somme, Médaille d’or Salon 1925.
In good condition with just some inevitable expected wear in places to the patination.
The height to the top of the bow is 56.5 cm, and the base measures 46 X 26 cm.
