Silver necklace with a shield shaped pendant. The pendant is decorated with a cloisonné enamelled galleon under sail beneath a blue sky.
A rare and desirable Arts & Crafts piece by the American artist and designer William Snelling Hadaway dating from circa 1900-05.
Hadaway worked in London between 1897 and 1907, sometimes in collaboration with his wife Jean Louise, and this necklace is from that period.
The shield measures approximately 4.5 cm long with the width just a touch more. The overall length is approximately 41 cm.
