Theodor Fahrner Jugendstil Brooch

Item Description

Jugendstil silver brooch designed by J.M. Olbrich and made by Theodor Fahrner circa 1902.

An offset outline with two translucent green enamelled ovals and a matching chrysoprase cabochon.

In the centre of the top bar is a large wrap-over baroque pearl, beneath which two chains are suspended, each of a slightly different length and each with a wing pearl attached.

Marked deposé and 935 on the reverse, also with the TF maker’s mark.

Width of this brooch is 3 cms. and the length, including the pearl drops, is 4.5 cms.

Lit:  Theodor Fahrner Jewelry, p. 124 – the same brooch shown with a moss agate stone in place of the pearl.  Also, Art Nouveau Jewelry by Vivienne Becker, pl. 213 – a somewhat similar design with the wrap-over pearl.
