Impressive Art Deco terracotta prowling panther by the Belgian artist Johannes Dommisse (1878-1955).
Beautifully modelled stealthily moving across the ground, tail swishing and quietly letting out a low growl.
Signed on one end of the naturalistic base J. Dommisse, marked Made in Belgium and numbered 2272.
Dating from around 1930, with a length of around 62 cm and height of 17 cm. A similar example sold in the USA a few years ago for over $2400.
