‘Retour des Hirondelles’ by Gaudez*
Elegant Art Nouveau bronze by Adrien-Étienne Gaudez (1845-1902) titled ‘Retour des Hirondelles’ which translates as ‘Return of the Swallows’.
Depicting a classic Art Nouveau maiden wearing a diaphanous gown, welcoming the birds at the beginning of Summer.
Standing 82 cm tall and in excellent condition with just a slight bend to the wing-tip of one of the birds at her feet. This is a sculpture that doesn’t appear on the market often, especially in this larger size.
With a title plaque attached to the base noting that the work won a medal (Hors-Concours) for Gaudez at the Paris Exhibition.
