Silver bar brooch with a shield-shaped central plaque depicting a stylised poppy plant growing in a green field.
Commemorating the heroic dead of the First World War, the three poppy flowers together with an unopened bud are set against a purple-violet coloured sky, producing a powerful and evocative image.
Impressed on the reverse with the mark of the Birmingham silversmith William J Holmes and a Birmingham hallmark for the year 1921.
