Oil on Board of a Lady with Butterfly Wings
Item Description
Oil painting on board of a young woman standing among wild flowers in a forest setting holding a small decorative lidded urn.
She’s wearing classic robes and has a gold armlet coiled around her upper arm. Rather intriguingly she also has a pair of deeply coloured butterfly wings peeping from behind her shoulders.
Beautifully painted with fine detail, the lady looking just past the viewer with a far away look on her face.
German in origin and in a complex and very individual looking shaped wooden frame, with the old framer’s label still affixed to the back.
There is no signature apparent although it’s possible there may be one concealed by the edge of the frame.
Late 1800’s and measuring the 41 X 29.5cm overall with the image just under 29 X17.5 cm.
