Newlyn Copper Vase
Item Description
Twin handled patinated copper vase from the Newlyn Industrial Class.
Tapering down as it rises from a circular base, the vase is decorated on both front and back with a repoussé design depicting a large fish, diving down into deeper water against a backdrop of seaweed and rising bubbles.
The fish displays realistic movement with its body angled as its large fins thrust it forward and down.
Shaped wide handles with a lightly hammered finish are riveted to each side of the vase which has a height of 25 cm.
One minor dink to the rim of the base which could quite easily be improved if thought necessary.
Marked Newlyn on the underside and dating from around 1905.
