Murrle Bennett Windmill Pendant*
Item Description
Hammered silver pendant from Murrle Bennett set with a convex circular enamelled landscape scene of a windmill, green grass and trees against the backdrop of a deep blue sky.
With a somewhat flagon shaped outline showing a detail of three little silver dots immediately above the enamelled plaque, and a stylised organic design feature below.
A pearl drop is suspended at the foot of the pendant and a twisted wirework feature is threaded through and behind at the top.
Beautifully enamelled in the manner of C.F. Varley and quite possibly from his workshop, but only showing the mark XI on the back of the plaque.
The pendant is marked MB Co for Murrle Bennett and with the 950 silver content mark.
Measuring 6.5 cm long including the bale and drop. The 53 cm long Arts & Crafts necklace chain has a pair of shaped hammered silver spacers on each side a little way above the pendant.
