Murrle Bennett Art Nouveau Longuard Chain*
Item Description
Quite splendid Art Nouveau silver longuard chain from the workshops of Murrle Bennett & Co dating from circa 1900.
With seven elongated almost oval plaques, each double sided, showing the profile portrait of a young long-haired Nouveau maiden gazing upwards.
They are placed at more or less equal distances along the chain approximately 17 cms apart, with 8.5 cms the measurement between the final one and the bolt ring.
The chain is long enough at 144 cms to be worn as a two or even three strand necklace and a pendant could be attached if desired.
Marked on the second ring from the clasp with the MB&C maker’s mark and the word silver.
