Item Description
Little glass cabinet vase decorated with the enamelled profile portrait of a young lady in Renaissance style.
Her headdress and clothes are highlighted with foil paillons, adding a strong lustre to the detail.
With a gilt metal foot and rim, the vase is divided in background colour at its widest point by a gilded line circling it. Deep red below this, with fine gold swags, and black above serving as the background shade to the portrait.
The reverse side shows a detail of what appear to be leafy fronds and seed heads.
Signed just behind the lady’s long auburn hair by the Limoges artist M. Carus and dating from the early 1900’s.
The height is 7 cm.
