Large Plique-à-Jour Scarab Brooch*
Item Description
Superb large size German Jugendstil Egyptian revival silver gilt and plique-à-jour enamelled scarab brooch made in Pforzheim circa 1910.
The wide, upswept wings are both solidly and plique-à-jour enamelled in shades of green with the trailing cells graduating to a pale pink colour.
Set with an oval faceted green glass stone, very like a peridot, in its centre and with a pair of smaller, circular stones above and below.
Marked on the reverse for 800 silver and a little over 11.5 cm in width.
