Jugendstil Blue Enamelled Pendant Necklace*
Jugendstil silver pendant necklace of a semi-openwork design featuring curving stems and leaves set against a blue enamelled background.
With an almost heart-shaped outline and set with an oval faceted deep blue paste stone in its centre, the pendant is further decorated with graduated marcasites.
Swags set with little seed pearls are suspended on each side of the central drop which itself is set with small matching paste stones and tiny marcasites.
Two short lengths of chain at the top descend from a suspender, again set with a matching coloured paste stone.
Unmarked but probably German in origin and dating from the very early 1900’s.
Length from the top of the suspender to the bottom of the drop is just below 7 cm, with the necklace chain measuring 43 cm.
