Hand Crafted Veneered Wooden Box
Item Description
Beautifully made wooden box veneered in English walnut burr, the interior fitted with a lining in cedar.
The veneer runs in sequence around the four sides and is arranged in a quartered pattern on the top of the hinged lid.
All the corners are decorated, not to mention strengthened, with a square ebony line detail and the box itself is raised off a black laquered frame with four shaped feet.
Many boxes of this sort were made in small workshops by apprentice cabinet makers during the 1920’s and 1930’s but this one is a very fine example obviously made by a true craftsman.
19 X 14 cm with the extended feet making it a little larger all round, and with a height of a little over 9 cm.
