Gold and Amethyst Brooch by Archibald Knox
Little gold brooch with an entrelac design, set with an oval faceted amethyst stone in its centre.
Approximatly rectangular in outline with sinuously winding, overlapping and knotted bands of gold forming the complex shape.
Unmarked but a known Knox design and almost certainly made for Liberty's circa 1900.
We've not tested the gold, preferring not to scratch it in order to do so, and assume it to be 9 ct.
Just 2 cm in width and very similar to model no. 1290 illustrated on page 266 of the book by Stephen A. Martin.
