French Art Deco Display Figure
What a delightful character this chap is – a polychromed plaster original display figure from a Parisian store dating from the late 1920’s to early 30’s.
Unfortunately we don’t know what the product was that he was promoting but, judging by his smart outfit, he could well have originally been from a gentleman’s outfitters.
Is he a jazz musician perhaps, or a singer in one of the dance bands of the era? He certainly looks a real dandy and a proper ladies man with his confident pose and wide smile.
We just couldn’t resist him, and everyone who sees him reacts the same way, by immediately commenting and smiling.
This good sized figure looks great on display, being around 47 cm high, with the base approximately 15 cm square.
