Esmeralda by Guerbe*
Cold painted figure from Guerbe (one of Pierre Le Faguay’s pseudonyms), made in Le Verrier art metal at their foundry in Paris in the 1930’s.
Named Esmeralda, she is one of a number of figures that were produced to commemorate the 1936 Olympic Games.
Very nicely modelled with the athletic and naked young lady holding a tambourine above her head while posing on one leg.
Around 26 cm high on its square black marble base and in good condition, with just one very small nibble to a corner of the marble.
