Charles Horner Art Nouveau Pendant
Item Description
Rarely seen silver pendant necklace by Charles Horner incorporating blue enamel detail in the centre and on the three drops below.
A softly rounded triangular outline with a well defined beaded border enclosing a similar but finer inner border. This encloses a coiled rope design which surrounds the enamelled centre circle.
The pendant is suspended on four short lengths of chain from a pair of side attachments in matching blue enamel.
A good size at a little over 4 cm in width and with a fully opened out length of 46 cm.
Marked with the C.H maker’s mark and a Chester hallmark for the year 1911.
N.B. This design is illustrated on pp. 141 and 143 of the book Charles Horner of Halifax where it is noted as an Art Nouveau hat-pin. Some of theses hat-pin designs were also used for pendants.
