Charles Catteau Deer Vase
Item Description
Art Deco ceramic vase from Boch Freres designed by Charles Catteau around 1925. This is his famous deer decoration “Biches Bleues” which he also used on plates, bowls, urns etc.
Four different stylized deer circle the swollen body of the vase, two eating leaves and grass while the other two stand at the alert. Painted in vibrant blues and greens against the usual crackle-glazed lighter background, this is a classic piece of Catteau.
Stamped beneath with Keramis, Made in Belgium and the design no. D943. Approximately 23 cm. high.
