Carved Horn Winged Scarab
French Art Nouveau carved horn brooch in the form of a stylised scarab beetle with outstretched wings.
Claw-set in the centre with a body and head of mottled green and brown glass which contrasts well with the translucent pale honey colour of the horn wings.
Contoured and three-dimensional with the wings curving forwards before receding a little, making for a comfortable fit when wearing.
Unsigned but very well carved, almost certainly in Paris during the very early 1900’s.
A good size with a width of 10.5 cm.
