‘Boubou’ by Max Le Verrier
Amusing and sought-after little table lamp dating from circa 1925 from the foundry of Max Le Verrier in Paris.
Titled Boubou and depicting a stylised chimpanzee holding up a lantern with one hand and cupping his ear with the other.
With his lips pursed and his somewhat quizzical face full of concentration, he looks to be a real character.
These turn up occasionally with the lantern missing but this one is complete and in good condition with very little wear to the dark, greenish black patina. The lamp has been thoroughly checked and rewired to meet current safety standards and takes a very small bulb, making it a useful little nightlight.
Signed to one side of the socle and just a touch under 17 cm in height , with the diameter of the verde antico marble base around 8.25 cm.
