Book Stand with Serpent
Arts & Crafts wood and brass bookstand adorned on the front with a writhing serpent, biting on its own tail.
The Mahogany frame, complete with shaped base, is nicely made but very slightly warped with age. However it holds together perfectly well and is decorated on its three sides with individual repoussé images of serpents, all devouring their tails.
The overall width is 37.5 cm and the depth just under 15.5 cm. Internally the width is around 33 cm.
Full of character, West Country English and dating from around 1905.
