Bernard Instone Brooch*
Good looking silver brooch by Bernard Instone in the form of a winding plant stem with long slender leaves at intervals along its length.
Set with with four graduated and offset blue cabochons that at first glance appear possibly to be star sapphires.
Close inspection however reveals them to be of rose quartz, backed with a deep blue pigment that has been flat laid behind.
This has the effect of giving the stones an unusual and quite stunning shade together with a deep transluscence.
Marked silver and with the BI maker’s mark, the brooch is approximately 5 cm long.
