Arts & Crafts Silver, Amethyst and Mother-of-Pearl Necklace*
Arts & Crafts silver necklace of an openwork design with a complex series of chains both above and below the main element.
Stylised sprays of leaves are set with little faceted amethyst stones as are the petals of the two stylised flowers with their mother-of-pearl centres.
Two amethyst drops hang from the flowers and several further mother-of-pearl plaques adorn the necklace at intervals along the chains.
A tiny central amethyst drop is the finishing touch to a quite lovely and very elegant design.
Late 1800’s to very early 1900’s and, although showing no maker’s mark, well made, being finished very cleanly on the back – see photo 4.
On a good Arts & Crafts silver chain with a toggle type fastener.
7.5 cm long from the central mother-of-pearl plaque to the bottom of the drop and with an overall length of 41 cm when opened out.
