Arts & Crafts Silver Filigree Butterfly Necklace
Item Description
Large and impressive butterfly necklace crafted in silver showing quite beautiful filigree work forming the wings.
Set with oval carnelian cabochons of various sizes, including an elongated central one as the butterfly’s body.
Two fire opals are set at the head and tail, giving a subtle colour contrast against the other stones.
A pair of surmounts at each wing tip connect to the double silver necklace chain, with this detail repeated at intervals along its length.
No marks but quite obviously very well made and probably dating from the early 1920’s.
The pendant is 8.5 cms. in width by 7 cms. long, with the necklace chain measuring between 48 and 49 cms.
