Art Nouveau Silver Trinket Box*
Item Description
Very pretty English Art Nouveau small silver box by Marples & Co. hallmarked for 1905.
With a delightful openwork design of flowers and leaves of iris together with hovering dragonflies. This pattern continues on all four sides, with the same theme repeated on the lid which also has a centrally placed blank cartouche.
The interior is lined with a dark blue velvet which shows through the design on the sides, making for a very effective contrast with the silver.
Length, including the base plate is 15 cm and the width 7.5 cm. When closed, height to the top of the domed lid is around 7 cm.
