Newlyn Silver and Enamel Necklace*
Item Description
Silver necklace that, although unmarked, is firmly attributed to Newlyn.
A pleasing, well balanced design with three shell-shaped enamelled plaques, the central one larger than those on each side.
The detailed texturing and shaping of the background silver prior to enamelling, together with the chosen vibrant shades of blue are so typical of Arts & Crafts work from the old Newlyn Enamel Studios.
Difficult to date precisely but probably around 1910-20.
The necklace is 43 cm in length.
