Irish silver mether with a Dublin hallmark for the year 1910, showing the maker's mark W.S, which we are unable to attribute to a known silversmith of the time.
Standing on four legs and shaped with a quatrefoil rim rounded at the corners, tapering down to a circular base, similar to the traditional shape which goes back to medieval times when these ceremonial drinking vessels were carved from a single piece of wood.
The four handles extend downwards, in tapering fashion to form the legs.
With a height of 16.5 cm and a diameter from corner to corner of a fraction under 13 cm. Comfortably holds in excess of a pint and weighs 515 gms.
